The Assistant Quality (QA) Manager ensures that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. This individual is responsible for implementing and managing the organization's quality assurance policies and procedures, quality management systems, and controlling new product development processes. They will oversee customer and supplier quality relations.  They will also establish performance standards, procedures, and audit controls in order to meet business requirements, as well as identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of company operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate in accordance with the AGCNA Policy of “Stop-Call-Wait”
  • Provide leadership, developing and directing QA and quality improvement initiatives for all company products and services
  • Monitor and maintain QA systems and advise the management team on system performance; publish statistics regarding performance against set goals
  • Maintain and improve the site’s Quality Management System and transition to the new standards when required
  • Perform internal QA audits that are compliant with corporate policies, practices, and procedures
  • Customers and Suppliers management, including issuing HTR’s, IPP’s and portal requirements
  • Collaborate with client-facing QA representatives to ensure full customer satisfaction with the company's products and services
  • Establish and maintain a QA program for monitoring supplier quality, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers
  • Conduct risk analyses, verification, validation activities, and formal design reviews, as applicable
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement and by integrating quality control tools (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) into processes
  • Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization
  • Act as liaison with customer auditors and assume responsibility for ensuring corrective actions with customer specifications
  • Internal Quality and reporting including measuring, documenting, analyzing, communicating, and costs
  • Drawing control and design changes
  • Head up New Model Activities for Quality department responsibilities
  • Ensure equipment calibrations are carried out and maintained
  • Prepare and maintain training modules for quality systems and conduct training as needed
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation
  • Lead and mentor the quality team and encourage open communication
  • Drive leadership culture by focusing on people, their development, and succession planning
  • Manage and execute annual performance reviews for the quality team
  • Ensure department employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, and formal evaluations on a regular basis (annually)
  • Create and maintain QA control documentation
  • Identify relevant QA training needs and opportunities
  • Develop KPI’s, manage them and drive results
  • Maintain a constant awareness of company profitability, including budgetary control issues
  • Ensures department staff fill in for one another as needed. Quality Manager fills in for staff as needed 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of direct work experience with Quality management systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards
  • 5-10 years of experience in a supervisory or management role with a manufacturing industry
  • Direct knowledge of Quality Assurance methodologies
  • Able to read and understand drawings, including Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Training and experience in developing and managing of Control Plans and PFMEA is required
  • Root cause and problem-solving analysis such as Six Sigma, 8D, 5P experience is required
  • Training and experience in Statistical Process Analysis, Measurement System Analysis, Gauge & Fixture Design, and Calibration certification is required
  • Must possess excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with vendors, customers, and internal departments
  • Able to interface directly with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents
  • Able to develop, review, and maintain metrics and quality audits
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Post-secondary diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Certified IATF 16949:2016 Lead Auditor training from an accredited training organization preferred, or minimum IATF 16949:2016 Auditor training
  • Training and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques are desirable
  • FMEA/PQCT/Control Plans/CSRs
  • Measurement system analysis (MSA)
