AGC Automotive Americas (AANA) fabricates high quality automotive safety glass for automobile manufacturers located in the United States and abroad. AGC’s automotive glass operations have the top market share in the automotive glazing market for laminated and tempered glass.  Our Bradford, Ontario site is responsible for supplying automotive glass products to two large OEM’s in our region.

Summary of Position:

The Human Resources Generalist must perform a range of duties supporting departmental managers and HR and Administrative staff. This role ensures company compliance with federal, provincial, and regional regulations and laws governing employment, compensation, benefits, employment equity, and all HR-related issues. Candidate must possess the ability to travel within North America. The schedule is 8-hour full-time weekdays with no remote work.

Responsibilities/Core Functions of the role to include, but are not limited to:

  • HR Administration
  • Recruitment
  • Payroll and Benefits Administration
  • New Hire Orientation
  • Employee Relations and engagement
  • Employee File Management and Maintenance
  • Policies & Procedures – management, creation, and adoption
  • Training & Development

Recruitment and Selection:

  • Full cycle recruitment, including the preparation of job postings for internal and external distribution
  • Manage interview process including shortlisting of resumes, pre-screening of candidates, assisting with development of interview questions, participating on interview panels, scheduling interviews and reference checking
  • Manage process to ensure vacancies are filled in a timely and cost-effective manner within budget and work with temporary staffing agencies re. assigned Associates
  • Support managers to identify hiring needs and assist with preparation of job descriptions
  • Assist with annual compensation surveys and recommendations to management about compensation levels to ensure internal equity and consistency throughout AGC
  • Prepare employment contracts for new hires and internal changes in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure all aspects of recruitment and selection processes follow AGC’s policies, procedures, the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and other employment legislation
  • Manage the onboarding process for all departments

Employee Relations:

  • Provide HR advice to management in the day-to-day operations
  • Assist managers and employees with a variety of human resources related matters, ensuring the appropriate follow-up and responsiveness
  • Provide guidance and advice to managers on employee relations issues including attendance management, conflict resolution and performance management
  • Review and implement HR policies; uphold policies with employees and management
  • Analyze complaints and conduct investigations in accordance with company policy and applicable employment legislation
  • Providing guidance, coaching, and training on all aspects of talent management including career management and succession planning
  • Proactively support and champion change management initiatives to ensure the successful delivery of internal HR programs and initiatives
  • Support employee retention programs and initiatives, employee engagement activities, plan and organize staff events and recreational activities
  • Administer and record employee recognition and incentive programs including retirements
  • Participate in AGC Way initiatives and SGA activities as required

Human Resources Administration:

  • Enforce and adhere to the codes of the company's Business Code of Conduct
  • Oversee payroll related functions and ensure proper processing of weekly company payroll
  • Conduct standardized HR orientation for all new Associates
  • Maintain all HR records including up to date employee files, investigations, and training and development records
  • Prepare service award recognition staff list, seniority, and other reports
  • Provide information related to policies, procedures, practices, benefit entitlements, and company policies and procedures
  • Administer exit interview process for non-management staff and prepare reports
  • Assist in implementing best HR programs, policy, practices, and compliance
  • Delivering/facilitating and tracking all training programs (except direct Production training)
  • Manage administration of group benefit and retirement plans
  • Provide data or reporting to validate benefits billing and support regular business reviews
  • Reporting for HR relevant KPIs

Performance Review System Administration:

  • Administer performance reviews including preparation of annual reviews and goal setting with management
  • Performing annual compensation review and bonus processes
  • Ensure merit increases are processed as required

Health & Safety:

  • Assist in the coordination of all Health & Safety programs, to enforce AGC’s safety culture
  • Assist with work injuries, WSIB reporting process, and claims
  • Assist with the coordination of workplace accommodations and written accommodation plans
  • Assist in implementation and enforce new policies as needed

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or completion of Ontario College Human Resources Management Certificate Program
  • 3-4 years progressive experience in Human Resources, in an industrial / manufacturing environment is required
  • CHRP (preferred), or working towards, considered an asset
  • Strong relationship management skills and great communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to deal with people and act tactfully and respectfully with discretion when handling confidential information
  • A positive and adaptive attitude
  • Attention to detail with the ability to work on multiple hires and projects concurrently
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills

Salary: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
