AGC | Environmental Health & Safety Engineer, Farmington Hills, MI
AGC Automotive Glass Company – North America has an immediate opening for an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer responsible for coordinating and reporting Environmental and Safety activities according to applicable government regulations, policies, best practices, and other considerations for the Farmington Hills location.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains and applies knowledge of new standards, current policies, regulations
- Reports on progress of KPI’s throughout the year to team members and leaders; utilizing Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology
- Regularly collects, validates, and reports data within AANA Safety and Environmental programs to ensure data integrity
- Maintains and recommends improvements to the system for managing and reporting Environmental and Safety data
- Collaborates with third parties when necessary
- Develops, co-develops interprets, modifies, and/or communicates work procedures, policies, management systems (i.e. environmental, safety, etc.) to comply with standards, policy, and regulations related to Environmental Health &Safety, when necessary
- Regularly inspects facilities, systems, equipment, practices, and work instructions
- Prepares for, participates in, and reports on all local Environmental and Safety internal and external audits
- Proposes, plans, implements and monitors corrective actions because of audits
- Participates in company-wide Environmental and Safety collaboration
- Ensures compliance for site Environmental Management System program including preparing and maintaining monthly reports for Air Emissions, Chemical Inventory, SERC and SARA reporting
- Ensures compliance with ISO 14001
- Prepares and maintains site contingency plan
- Maintains data integrity, performs incident analysis and ensures corrective action closure within our incident management system
- Conducts internal audits and develops corrective action plans
- Inspects facilities and programs to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets Environmental Health and Safety data and prepare for sustainability/CSR reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related subject
- 4 – 6 years’ experience (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
- Advanced knowledge of ISO 14001 requirements
- Experience with development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS management systems such as ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, Responsible Care, or equivalent.
- Advanced knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations
