The Engineering Specialist is responsible for the evaluation and analysis of plant products, processes, and equipment. Independently, manages internal customer requests with the support of engineering, maintenance, quality, S/C, & production when needed. Manage testing activities, evaluate specifications, determine hypothesis, conduct experiments, analyze and report results, and propose systematic changes as appropriate. Participate in value creation through learning, knowledge transfer, continuous improvement and new product development.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assure that all duties and responsibilities are accomplished in accordance with company policies, practices, expectations, and goals and legal regulations
  • Follow; contribute to the development, maintain, and promote the Company’s quality, safety, and environmental systems
  • Plan, validate, conduct, communicate and report testing, process development and project activities
  • Perform on-site, off-site, and field work such as conducting observations, analysis, samplings, and information intake activities with internal and external customers to develop hypothesis and recommend solutions
  • Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products, processes or reduce costs
  • Determine root causes of moderately complex product and process failures
  • Evaluate and record findings to support recommended solutions
  • Prepare clear and concise technical reports that are useable to non-technical recipients to implement solutions
  • Design, re-design, install, or troubleshoot equipment, as requested
  • Implement research activities and testing systems in support of AAAR product development objectives
  • Design fixtures and equipment needed to carry out testing and development activities
  • Design and plan measurement and control systems for material processes
  • Participate in and supports the organizations intellectual property strategy
  • Invest time in knowledge, skills and ability development of self and others
  • Monitor the activities of technicians and others assigned to assist

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Engineering discipline and 10 years related experience or; 10+ years manufacturing and/or automotive glass related experience (Minimum)
  • BS / BA degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred
  • 7-10 years’ experience conducting failure analysis of high volume, high reliability automotive products
  • 3 – 5 years related hands on experience with injection mold build/ repair and maintenance and/or assembly equipment
  • Understanding of fundamental engineering concepts and practices
  • Ability to apply and learn new analytical skills to solve problems
  • Ability to work independently or in collaboration on project activities
  • Ability to proactively collaborate with colleagues of all technical skill levels
  • Ability to build, develop and maintain positive customer relations
  • Ability to provide technical assistance in the design, layout, construction, testing, and procurement of materials used in testing
  • Ability to set-up, use, troubleshoot and maintain test and manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to prepare and present clear concise technical information
  • Able to read specifications, assembly drawings, and engineering documents
  • Ability to lead and monitor the activities of assigned technicians
  • Ability and willingness to travel, with or without notice, up to 20%
  • Understanding of Vision Systems a plus
  • Understanding of Robotics a plus
  • Must have flexibility to work off shifts periodically
