Summary of Position

Plans, directs, and coordinates the storage and distribution operations activities and engages in the storing and distributing materials and products. Inventory control of shipping activities is properly performed, which will include FIFO and 5S. 

Schedule: Second Shift 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct preparation/update of procedures that ensure safety practices and operation in conformance with Company policies.
  • Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing and shipping products or materials.
  • Review invoices, work orders, consumption reports, and demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and to issue work assignments.
  • Engages production requirements to logistics activity
  • Download of EDI data to anticipate cubing analysis of truck loads and ensure on time shipment
  • Confer with department heads to coordinate shipping activities, such as production, scheduling, purchasing and third-party logistics.
  • Interview, select, and train shipping personnel.
  • Respond to customers or shippers on questions, rescheduling and complaints regarding shipments
  • Negotiate with customers and logistics parties on returns/tracking of empty racks
  • Maintain established levels of racks and raw material to cover production requirements
  • Inspect physical conditions of docks, storage areas and equipment, maintenance, repair, or replacement as necessary.
  • Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.
  • Ensure that shipping instructions are met so that delivery times and locations are coordinated.
  • Arrange for necessary shipping documentation and contact customs officials to effect release of shipments.
  • Examine Associates’ work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of Associates.
  • Ensure correct shipment of international orders and hazardous material orders.
  • Arrange for storage facilities when required.
  • Evaluate layout conditions and propose modifications that support safety and efficient operation
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Associate degree preferred and/or three to five years in related production experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize problem solving tools such as Six Sigma, Fishbone, KT, 8D, 5P, etc.
  • Basic to moderate computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, EPR, etc.
  • Quality systems and ISO/TS knowledge
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate fork truck (obtain Forklift License within the first 30 days).
  • Highly oriented to safety.
  • Coaches and develops team for continued success and discipline.
  • Coordinates work schedules of direct reports.
