Summary of Position

The Packaging Engineer at AGC is responsible for leading and managing packaging projects for select customers to ensure successful launches on future programs, in addition to supporting packaging improvements and cost-saving initiatives on current production. This role will work with key customer contacts and cross-functional teams within AGC to meet specific program milestones within the packaging development process. The Packaging Program Engineer must meet or exceed both internal and external customer requirements to ensure compliance with governing environmental and quality bodies and ensure a positive contribution to AGC Automotive North America’s profit objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as support for AANA packaging on complex developments for new and current programs, ensuring ontime, best-value packaging for all stages of the product lifecycle
  • Ensure project teams and plant packaging operate efficiently to develop, launch, and maintain production programs
  • Monitor and provide follow-up with approvals for packaging expenditure
  • Ensure order issuance and follow-up to ensure project milestones are met
  • Lead and/or participate in teams in problem-solving, and root cause investigation with a resolution of supplier performance issues
  • Establish and maintain solid, effective communication flow between packaging suppliers and AANA sites
  • Work with Packaging Purchasing Manager to establish a preferred packaging supply base in Mexico

Qualifications

  • 4-year College degree required with a background in Automotive Packaging or Business
  • Experience in automotive packaging, auto industry, or related fields, preferably with experience in glass handling/rack design
  • Experience in other functional areas such as: operations, engineering, quality, finance, or purchasing
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in the management of supplier problem solving
  • Ability to interact with suppliers, customers, and internal management with a high level of effectiveness
  • Self-starter, well-organized, and able to make sound business and organizational decisions based upon strategic plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving/analytical thinking skills, understanding of manufacturing problem-solving process and APQP process, including AIAG standards and proficiency in Microsoft Project, understanding of product drawings, and understanding of quality standards
  • Proficient in PC skills, Internet-based programs, MS Office Suite
  • Strong ability to prioritize a complex range of activities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project(s) to completion
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Simulia (Abaqus) proficiency for Simulation
  • Adobe Illustrator for artwork
