Summary of Position

The Commodity Buyer is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of the Commodity Strategies for AANA and in collaboration with the Global Commodity Purchasing Team.  This position is also responsible for the maintaining of the purchase order price for all production components, for their commodity, as well as ensuring that their suppliers are delivering a quality product on time at a competitive price.  The position requires coordination of activities between the suppliers, AGC supply chain managers, AGC schedulers and AGC plant buyers to ensure that production components and/or raw materials used in building glass assemblies are delivered on-time, meeting production schedules.   In addition, Commodity Buyers are required to meet yearly budgeted savings targets.  Major KPI milestones include annual price reductions, VE/VA implementation, payment term and inco-term improvements.  The Commodity Buyer is also responsible for changes to components or raw materials once SOP +90 days for all programs, securing service requirements, accessing and managing supplier risk through developing contingency plans, resourcing or supplier development.

Qualifications

  • BS degree required
  • 3 to 5 years working in purchasing, with automotive experience (Tier 1 and/or Tier 2) required
  • Supplier Chain or Engineering related major preferred
  • Technical experience or manufacturing environment experience preferred
  • Experience with SAP, AS400 and MAPICS desired
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills including use of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively and efficiently with cross-functional teams and suppliers
  • Strong conflict management skills are a must to lead/support purchasing activities
  • Strong leadership skills are a must to lead supplier negotiations
  • Ability to travel internationally & domestically by air or by car, on short notice
