AGC | Laboratory Coordinator, Elizabethtown, KY

The Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for supervising and coordinating the Plant Laboratory staff concerning all applicable tests according to the governmental regulations, customer technical specifications, metrology, calibration and AGC internal requirements.

 

This role is responsible for ensuring that all internal laboratory equipment is certified according to AGC’s Internal, IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.

 

Location of Position: Elizabethtown, KY 

Ability to travel within the US. Expected up to 10% of travel during some months of high activity.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate plant metrology and regulatory laboratory activities to support compliance, resource readiness, and equipment capability.
  • Establish and implement, at a minimum, requirements for technical procedures, personnel competency, product testing, service capability traceable to relevant standards, alternative methodologies to verify measurement system capability, and applicable customer requirements.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated, and capable of performing required inspection, testing, and verification services.
  • Coordinate the setup and programming of control fixtures and measurement equipment.
  • Work with Plant Quality and New Model Launch teams to ensure the availability of laboratory resources during development and mass production, including laboratory technicians and metrology support.
  • Coordinate the plant’s metrology and regulatory laboratory staff to meet regulatory (homologation) and metrology audit program requirements.
  • Keep all testing records following the record-keeping policies.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • B.S. Engineering or relevant area of study
  • 5+ years professional experience in Quality assurance or laboratory, automotive preferred.
  • Proven experience with leading technical teams.
  • Leadership skills and ability to coordinate technical staff.
  • Administrative skills to manage the maintenance, repair, calibration and general administration of laboratory equipment.
  • Critical thinking and ability to understand and incorporate external and internal factors into the Quality planning and implementation phases.
  • Knowledge of the laboratory equipment and its calibration process.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 is preferred.
  • Understanding and interpretation of Automotive Glass Regulatory requirements
  • Competence in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and experience with SharePoint a plus.
  • Able to demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills.
