AGC | Environmental, Health/Safety & Sustainability Specialist, Elizabethtown, KY

AGC Automotive Americas (AANA) is a leading supplier of automotive glazing for the OEM and aftermarket industries and is part of the AGC Group, the largest global glass supplier employing more than 50,000 worldwide in approximately 30 countries.
Responsible for operating production lines in such a manner as to ensure safety of self and others as well as quality of product produced.

Plans, schedules, and coordinates departmental activities of a comprehensive safety and health program addressing all areas of operations in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA requirements, environmental and sustainability efforts and adheres to AGC policies.

Responsibilities:

Environmental Management (60%)

  • Serve as the site Environmental Management System (EMS) Representative and maintain the EMS in accordance with ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permit requirements.
  • Manage air permit compliance activities, including inspections, recordkeeping, emissions monitoring, and regulatory reporting.
  • Coordinate stormwater inspections, wastewater monitoring, sampling, and associated documentation.
  • Oversee hazardous waste, universal waste, used oil, recyclable materials, and general waste management programs.
  • Ensure proper waste characterization, labeling, storage, accumulation area inspections, transportation, and disposal practices.
  • Maintain environmental records, including waste manifests, disposal certificates, analytical results, permits, and vendor documentation.
  • Track and report environmental key performance indicators (KPIs), including energy consumption, water usage, wastewater generation, waste generation, recycling performance, spills, inspections, audit findings, and corrective action status.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce environmental impacts, improve sustainability performance, and achieve environmental objectives.
  • Identify and assess environmental risks associated with facility operations and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Partner with internal and external subject matter experts to support waste reduction, energy conservation, emissions reduction, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain and administer environmental compliance programs, including the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan, chemical
    management systems, chemical approval processes, radiation license requirements, and spill response procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain required environmental reports and compliance documentation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies on environmental matters.

Safety and Health Management (40%)

  • Develop and execute short- and long-term EHS strategies that support organizational goals and promote a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Lead facility safety programs and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Manage health and safety communication processes and coordinate improvement initiatives across departments.
  • Establish, implement, and oversee incident investigation and reporting processes for injuries, illnesses, property damage, environmental incidents, and near misses.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation case management and serve as the primary liaison with insurance carriers and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct EHS audits and inspections to evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards and drive corrective actions.
  • Develop, deliver, and continuously improve EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Promote a culture of safety through employee engagement, behavioral-based safety initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Develop, monitor, and report health and safety performance metrics and key indicators.
  • Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve EHS performance and reduce operational risk.
  • Support workplace organization and continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S programs and environmental objectives.

Leadership and Continuous Improvement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees on environmental, health, and safety matters.
  • Prepare, manage, and achieve departmental environmental and safety performance objectives and KPIs.
  • Support corporate EHS initiatives and participate in company-wide projects and programs as assigned.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, environmental stewardship, and workplace safety.
  • Demonstrate company values and leadership principles in all aspects of the role.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Desired Experience/Education:

  • Degree in related field preferred
  • Recent EHS experience preferred
