Summary of Position:

The Process Technology Engineer is within the corporate structure having visibility across all production sites of AANA. Within this structure you will provide both new & standardized manufacturing process solutions to meet the evolving cost, capability, and capacity demands of the business within your technology area. In this role you will closely interface with other internal functional areas, other regions, and equipment/tooling sources to achieve the most effective solutions.

Role Location: On-Site Farmington Hills, MI

Travel Requirements: 20-50% primarily within the North American region.

Responsible for:

  • Develop, validate, and implement new manufacturing process technology innovation to secure machine KPI improvement for reduced cost, introduce new manufacturing process capability, and ensure sufficient process capacity to manage all current and future businesses identified in the business plan. Implementation of the manufacturing processes includes the maintenance of standard recipes (PFMEA, Process, Equipment, and Tooling standards) for your technology area.
  • Responsible for developing manufacturing process KPI’s and investments for all new model quotation activities at all AANA sites for review with the Technology Leader. Upon business award, product designs will be reviewed to confirm manufacturing feasibility, recommend alternative design solutions to address feasibility or commercial risks, and support the development of process flow/equipment/tooling/check fixture designs with each manufacturing site engineering team.
  • Actively seek out opportunities for further education and training on the professional competencies of your position according to the area scopes as follows.
  • Area Scope:  Research, develop and implement state of the art automotive glass fabrications processes from block glass to finished goods.   Process portfolio ranges from glass fabrication such as cut/grind/bending/printing to assembly of multi-layer laminates having complex features to non-contact inspection with an emphasis on automation and closed-loop process control.

Educational requirements, Certifications:

BS in Engineering or related technical field.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

  • 3 or more years of experience as an engineer in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Application of closed-loop process control enablers such as optical/laser inspection devices and their related software.
  • PLC and robot programming.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
  • Theoretical & practical understanding of automotive glazing manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in project management principles (financial, quality, timing).
  • A detailed understanding of GD&T & tolerance stack-up principles.
