Summary of Position:

The CAE provides the core expertise within the organization for computational methodologies that support product and process development.  Their responsibilities include leading the creation of predictive simulation methodologies and product-specific CAE tools for design and optimization of automotive glazing products.  This covers a diverse range of topics, including:

  • glass/polymer/metal strength and fatigue
  • elastomer deformation and reaction force
  • bonding robustness over a wide range of environmental and loading conditions
  • glass stack optical properties
  • electrical heating
  • surface prediction/analysis
  • optical calculations
  • data aggregation and application to tools and methods

The CAE will work closely with the CAE Lead Designer, who is responsible for executing complex simulation jobs, in support of development projects.  They will also work closely with the R&D and Validation teams to connect theory, physical measurement and the virtual environment.

Location of Position: Farmington Hills, MI (on-site)

Responsible for:

  • Leading development and documentation of complex methodologies for standardized use by the design team, as well as “one off” analyses for atypical conditions
  • Refinement of existing analysis methods to improve accuracy, speed and breadth
  • Working with adjoining functions to collect physical data and correlate CAE models
  • Collaborating with suppliers to develop / improve material database and accuracy of models
  • Providing input for planning and execution of the digital roadmap
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of available digital technologies and their potential application in the CAE space

Ideal Candidate Core Qualities:

  • Creative – You possess the internal need to create and continually iterate.  You look at situations with an open mind and develop smart, efficient and often non-obvious solutions.
  • Innately Curious – You are naturally curious about cause-effect relationships, what-if scenarios and why-done analysis.
