AGC | Environmental Engineer/Specialist, Elizabethtown, KY

The Environmental Engineer/Specialist develops, coordinates and manages various activities around the Environmental Management System (EMS)

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as Site EMS Representative by maintaining the environmental management system
  • Ensures compliance for site EMS program including preparing and maintaining monthly reports for Air Emissions, Chemical Inventory, SERC and SARA R reporting
  • Ensures compliance with ISO 14001
  • Prepares and maintains site contingency plan
  • Acts as site Hazardous Waste Emergency Coordinator
  • Conducts internal audits and develops corrective action plans
  • Inspect facilities and programs to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Ensures compliance to Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SWPP) plan
  • Conducts and maintains EMS Training of all site associates
  • Manages and maintains site recycling program
  • Other duties or projects as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related subject required
  • 4 – 6 years manufacturing environmental experience

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of ISO 14001 requirements
  • Advanced knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of and ability to utilize problem solving tools such as Six Sigma, Fishbone, KT, 8D, etc.
  • Moderate to advanced computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to read and interpret environmental standards and regulations
  • Strong process skills
  • Ability to develop and present solid presentations to employees at all levels
